We’re going to the islands in a few days and I know that if he doesnt have a book to read he’ll get bored on the beach. Problem is, he really doesn’t read. I know that he read some mafia books and enjoyed them. These are his interests:
- Mafia, old gangster stuff
- Pirates (loves Pirates of the Caribbean)
- Restaurant Stuff – Hes a chef/owner (read Kitchen Confidential and loved it)
- Fishing/Hunting
- Loves comedy – Will Ferrell, etc.

Any ideas?? I want to surprise him with something good!
We are huge work-aholics. This vacation is to relax on the beach. We’re staying on St.Johns in the Virgin Islands where my parents live. The vacation will be a lot of swimming, snorkeling, hiking, sailing and yes.. laying on the beach and napping/reading! (and some beach scrabble) lol

My husband and I are planning a romantic vacation to the Caribbean for our 5th anniversary.
October 2011- Yes I’m starting to plan it a year and a half in advance.. I’m a planner

We want to go to an all inclusive resort. I want it to be romantic and somewhat secluded but would love to have some activities to keep us entertained as well. We’re not golfers or tennis players…
Would love water sports like Jetskiing, Snorkling, Parasailing, swimming with dolphins maybe. I would exspecially enjoy shows or some form of entertainment.

Some places I have begun to cosider are:
The Bahamas, Turkes and Caicos, Virgin Islands, Antigua, Domincan Republic….

I orginally was fascinated by the Sandals Resort in Nassua, but now i’m thinking I would enjoy going somewhere a little less common and maybe a little further into the carribean.
My recent favorite is the Dreams resort in Punta Cana… any opinions on it?

We’re looking to take a family vacation and we’re very skeptical about going to mexico so we’ve decided on the u.s. virgin islands. We’re looking to take about a 1-1/2 weeks off and have a family vacation. while we are there though we’d also like to get married and have a small ceremony with just us and our daughter and few family members. I havent heard much about the virgin islands so not sure which one to pick.

About a week after he suggested that I go on a vacation he mentions that he wants to go on vacation with his friends to Bali. It would be inconvenient for me to go because I go to college and they would be leaving when classes are taking place. Not to mention I have a daughter (i wouldn’t mind bringing her with).

Okay I know that his friends are single so me coming along makes me a fifth wheel. So I don’t want to go with him and his friends.

I just feel like him suggesting I go on vacation without him was manipulation to say "but you’re going on vacation without me". Which I wouldn’t have done anyway.

It seems kinda sneaky.

Plus we have never been on a vacation together alone. We have never been on vacation at all. So it hurt that he would choose to go with his friends.

I pointed it out to him that if he goes there would be women pouring themselves on them because they are American. So I told him he would cheat or feel lonely because his single friends are definitely going to have sex and leave him feeling like a fifth wheel.

I do not believe a 34 year old man would not know this scenario would be taking place.
He just told me about his brother’s GF going to the Virgin Islands "alone" and she cheated on his brother.

Is he that stupid or does he think I am that stupid?
I discussed it with him and he apologized. I told him if he wanted to go then he should go without me because he will be with single guys. He said he won’t go and he suggested we go on vacation together. He said he wasn’t thinking. I don’t know I wait and see. Thanks folks for your answers.

So- my husband and I want to take a beach vacation next winter with our family- we will have a just-turned 2 year old, and a 6 month old.

We’d love to find a tropical place (virgin islands, bahamas, etc.) that is fairly easy to get to, family friendly and would have some babysitting options where I would feel okay leaving my 2 babies with someone we just met so we could enjoy a romantic dinner or two.

Has anyone taken a trip to a place they’d recommend? Please don’t say Disney- we’ll do that when the kids are older! (We’re not into Hawaii either- too far of a flight to entertain the two rascals!)
Nah…we don’t want to do a childless vacation yet. I just did our first weekend away from my daughter (I’m preggo with #2) and to tell you the truth, by the second night, I was ready to be back home even though she was having a fantastic time with grandma. Plus- I plan to nurse #2 till they are 9 months old- and there’s no way I can pump that much in advance! We want a week at a beach- all of us together with a couple of hours just for my husband and me.

I’m 20 years old and in college. I plan to save up money for a lot of future vacations such as the Virgin Islands, the Harry Potter theme Park, and other tropical islands. My boyfriend acts as if I want too much, but I explained that we only live once and I want to see as much as I can in my lifetime. Therefore, I plan to save a lot of money for vacationing.

Do you guys think it’s crazy to want a lot of vacations before you die? Sorry to say it like that, but like I said we only live once. I want to make the best of my life and vacations uplift my mood like a drug =)

Some friends and I are planning a vacation this winter somewhere paradise-like. Some voted on the Virgin Islands, some Nassau, and some Guam. If money is no object, what is hands-down the best place to go for young adults?
