Does anyone have a good destination wedding spot in the USVI?

I recently got engaged and we are really set on a destination wedding. We don’t want to have to ask people to get passports, so we are thinking of the US Virgin Islands. I’d like a place that’s all inclusive, and I want to see if anyone on here has had a destination wedding in either St. John, St. Croix, or St. Thomas? and what was the experience like? Please only respond if you have either had a wedding there or been to one!

Anyone been to the U.S. Virgin Islands?

My boyfriend and I are heading there in June. We are going to be staying on St. John. I was wondering if anyone who has been there have any advice on where to go or what to do? We are pretty active. I want to scuba dive, fish, maybe do some hiking, and of course lay on the beach!
ST. THOMAS… not St. John.. sorry!

Could these killings be based on race?

I live in St Thomas US virgin Islands. It’s beautiful here. People come here everyday on cruise ships, vacation and some decide to stay down here because it’s owned buy the US, it’s called paradise and look like it too, the water is BEAUTIFUL. But there have been crimes going on here. Lot of it. Last year or earlier this year a caucasian guy got stabbed in St John, another small islands part of the US Virgin Islands. The police did a crappy job and almost let the killers go free, but the victim’s family and some other residents here didn’t let that happen. Just Sunday again, another caucasian guy offered two black dudes a ride just to get robbed a killed execution style. I’m black, but I’m also very open minded and always speak up about the racial double standard existing in the society. I start believing that maybe they are targeting White people here. It would be bad because tourism is a big part of the economy in the islands. In the USVI, a lot of "natives" don’t like "outsiders" like they call them, even if you’re black. I’m from another French island and have been a victim of discrimination here but Caucasians have been victim of murder. Way different than what I get. I can’t talk about that with any of them here because they are narrow minded. Am I blowing things out of proportion? Could I be right?

Blacks guys get shot here too almost on a daily basis. But they are not innocent either if you know what I mean. It’s always a thug or one of those guys.

I know racism against Blacks or any other race exist. i see what is being said about Obama for example. But I’m talking about this particular incidents. I have a caucasian friend here, he was born on the island. He got stoned when he was 13 by grown a$$ dudes because he is white.

Any one been to the Virgin Islands lately?

My son is getting married in the Virgin Islands, St John’s Island on the Coral Bay side, next March. Just wanted to get some idea of the price of things there, like lodging, food, shopping. Also the best places to stay and eat. Any places I should stay away from. Thanks for any information. :-)

Questions about US Virgin Islands? Any help welcome?

Hello, I am planning on traveling to the USVI for a vacation, with my daughter, her friend, and my husband. Both my husband and I and her friend have passports, but my daughter is out of date and we simply do not have enough time to get hers renewed before vacation. Will a birth certificate be enough to get there and back? (We are all US citizens, live in Boston, and by the way, my daughter is 14 years old.) I plan on calling the airline also.

Also, I was wondering out of St. Croix, St. John, and St. Thomas, which island is your favorite? Also, what are your favorite hotels? We wanted something relaxing, where my daughter and her best friend (who is practically my second daughter,) can relieve stress from their intensive school program (they never seem to get a break!) But also a place where the weather is lovely and hot, and a place that’s great for both us, the parents, and the kids!

Sorry that was rather long, thank you for your guidance!

What are the best Caribbean islands for snorkeling?

We are avid snorkelers and our vacation plans are based ONLY on the HOW GOOD the SNORKELING IS! We are aware of the much publicized devastation of coral reefs over the last couple of years. Last year we tried Grand Cayman and were disappointed. Lots of dead or bleached coral all over. Since it was our first time there we couldn’t tell if it was from the recent damage. Where is the snorkeling less affected, in other words, where it is just as good now as it was several years ago? We would prefer a place where there is enough good snorkeling you can do on your own without having to go on a boat and be subject to the boat’s schedule.
Thanks!
Thanks everyone! I forgot to mention that we want to go somewhere NEW (for us), and we’ve already done some great snorkeling at BVI (including St. John), Bonaire, Cozumel, and Belize, as well as Grand Cayman.
We are thinking about Turks & Caicos, Antigua, or Curacao. Someone told me that in Turks & Caicos, the coral has not been affected.

St. Thomas or St. Croix?

I am planning a trip for me, my husband and our 15 year old son. Which island is more fun? More activities, places to see etc…
Is island hopping expensive? Any recomendations on things to do? etc….I keep hearing St. Croix is not so touristy and plenty of things to do. Any thoughts is appreciated.
O.K. I’m hearing a lot about St. Thomas and St. John’s. Anyone have any info on St. Croix? Can I island hop from there? What are some things I can do there.

U.S. Virgin Islands or British Virgin Islands? … or Dutch?

My wife and I have been blessed to have the opportunity to go on a proper vacation, and we would like to go to the Caribbean.
I was thinking of St. Lucia (British), but my wife was thinking St. John (U.S.). My parents have had a good time at some of the Dutch places too.
What we would like is a beautiful place that is clean, safe, and isn’t too crowded.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
