I want a beach vacation but I don’t expect complete sunshine everyday, I just don’t want to get stuck in a five day rainy period. I am avoiding the Caribbean islands because I don’t want to get involved with any hurricanes, which is why I have chosen Costa Rica.
My wife and I have been to Aruba, Jamaica, Cancun, and Costa Rica. We are trying to decide between trying something new or going back to Aruba. We are currently looking into St. Martin mostly, but will consider alternate suggestions. The things we love about Aruba: Direct, nonstop flights from DC; it’s relatively safe – you don’t see guys walking around with machine guns patrolling the borders of your hotel/compound; Awesome restaurants and food; beautiful beaches and snorkeling; excellent bus system-cheap and easy so you don’t need a rental car; plus casinos and nightlife. We are looking at St.Martin because they also have direct flights from DC, but we will consider other destinations too. Does anyone have an opinion on where we should go?
Yes, we’ve been to the Mediterranean and would love to go back but airfare right now is a bit outrageous. Mallorca is our dream retirement destination!
Hi! My friend and I are planning to vacation the latter part of Sept. ’08. We have the choice of 5 Caribbean locations, St Kitts, Costa Rica, Montego Bay, Puerto Plata, and Santo Domingo, to just sit back, relax, and enjoy a long weekend. Both young, attractive girls, Black and Latina (she’s bilingual, English and Spanish), looking to have a blast, sightsee, enjoy the nightlife, but not go overboard, no pun intended! Both love European men, hint, hint: hotspots for Europeans on vacation in the Carib. Would love your helpful hints, recommendations, and tips. We’ve been to Europe many times, but never to the islands! Looking forward to your comments!
My fiance can’t seem to agree on where we would like to vacation for our honeymoon. We both want to stay in the caribbean though. Our total budget for airfare and lodging is about 00 for 5 nights (June 22-27). He wants to be close to a rainforest and I want to be on the beach. We don’t want to stay at a international chain hotel or resort (i.e. Hilton, etc..) We don’t need a ton of amenities, but the place should be clean and new-ish.
Help? (So far we’ve searched Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, & US Virgin Islands)
We want a relaxing vacation where we can interact with locals. It doesn’t have to be all-inclusive either.

I am looking for a good tropical vacationn spot for 2 weeks in april of ’09. I have been to Hawaii the US virgin islands, mexico, costa Rica, and Panama, and I am looking for something smiliar. I would be traveling with my parents, but also my friends. We are teenagers, but we are looking for something wild, not a toursity place. Any ideas will be very much appreciated.

Me and my friend (16) are going to the caribbean next march with our moms. we want to go to an all inclusive hotel that has very nice pools, a very nice beach, and good food. We don’t want to go to Mexico, Jamaica, Bahamas, or Dominican Republic. I’ve already been to them and i want to go to others even though those islands were excellent.
I want to go to Turks and Caicos, Cayman Islands, Costa Rica, Antigua,Aruba, Barbados any of them. but i’m open to other hotels also. If you have any hotels with expiriences taht would be wonderful. my friends mom wants a 4 star hotel or better but as long as it has nice pool S, that’s fine with me!

My husband and I are looking to go to the Caribbean next month. Neither of us are much for just lounging in the sun and I will be about 3 month pregnant by then so partying is out as is diving, zip lines, and other such activities. We are laid back outdoorsy camping types, into photography and want both beach and rainforest. I am leaning toward St Lucia (and have looked into Guadalupe and Dominica but they don’t seem as easy to get to). We don’t want to go to a fancy, big money spending place or like a Spring Break or Hollywood vacation spot- just normal. I would like to avoid places I have been already (USVI, Bahamas, Jamaica) and Puerto Rico is probably too American. We are also looking into Costa Rica. We would like to keep it reasonably priced and aren’t sure all inclusive is necessarily worth it for us (it seems it costs about 0 per person per day and I just cant see eating 0 worth per day- you almost have to drink your money’s worth). Also we don’t want to spend the whole trip at a resort- we want to get out and explore!
Okay, I am being sold on PR a bit now… plus it’s a lot cheaper to fly to and get good nonstop flights, or early arrivals…but would love to hear more from people…
