Which Caribbean Island is best for a couple in their mid-twenties?

We are trying to book a vacation for January 2011. Would like to enjoy the beaches in the mornings, followed by some excursions/ water sports (jet skis)/ Atv’s. Then to enjoy some bars and restaurants a few nights. Girlfriend also enjoys shopping. Was leaning towards Aruba or Nassau. Any input?

best vacation destination?

I’m looking for a place for myself and a few of my friends to go on vacation and i’m not sure where the best place to go would be. We’d like to go somewhere warm and tropical like Hawaii, Mexico, Caribbean, Costa Rica, or some type of island. We aren’t opposed to a cruise, but we need wherever we go to be relatively affordable or have accommodations that are, because we are college students on a budget but we can splurge a bit. Any recommendations for somewhere that would be fun, have beautiful beaches, and not be too pricey??

US VIRGIN ISLANDS, MORE THAN JUST BEACHES

US VIRGIN ISLANDS, MORE THAN JUST BEACHES

America certainly is a land of diversity and the same holds true when it comes to planning a vacation here. This time spend your holidays at America’s Caribbean paradise and return back totally recharged. Wondering which place it is? Take a cheap flight to U.S Virgin Islands, a place no less than heaven itself. Comprising main islands of Saint Croix, Saint John and Saint Thomas, and many other surrounding minor isles, these are frequented by millions of tourists every year. More than a conventional beach holiday, U.S. Virgin Islands offer varied experiences. You don’t have to try to hard to immerse yourself in a profound cultural experience here. Things like taking historic tours, culinary encounters, artisan fairs, parades, storytelling and other special presentations do the trick. Walking on the St. Croix or St. Thomas, you’ll come across marvelous pieces of assorted architecture, colonial remains, and a vibrant energy readying you to take on the day with much enthusiasm. The islands’ rich heritage could also be witnessed through restored great houses now serving as museums, local craft cooperatives, art galleries and artist colonies. Coming back to the topic of beaches, you’ll find plenty of secluded ones to enjoy the personal intimate moment with your significant other. White crystalline sand, emerald-tinted waters, a warm weather, azure sky overhead and a pure sea breeze, they’ll all add to the whole romantic charm of the beaches. For the more adventurous at heart, you can opt to get your thrill from windsurfing, scuba diving, kayaking, parasailing, hiking, camping, mountain climbing, boating, or just fishing in the high seas. It adds to the fun when the place you’re visiting has comely locals. This certainly holds true for U.S Virgin Islands. Consider them as their biggest asset, the island’s sun-kissed residents are warm, hospitable, friendly and quick to smile.

Sometimes accommodations can pose a problem in a vacation destination, but surely not here. You can choose from a variety of options that include motels, five-star hotels, luxury resorts, bed & breakfasts, villas, holiday homes, and apartments. Be it a happening night spot, an intimate lounge bar, a rock-n-roll place, or a by the beach part place, U.S Virgin Islands have loads of them. No doubt the daytime pleasures are unmatched but after the sun gives way to moon, revelry dons a different definition altogether. Everybody’s idea of night fun is distinct and the islands cater to them all. Hang out at a tavern, have a few drinks, listen to great foot-tapping music, watch sports on a big screen, shoot some pool, and quell your late night hunger pangs with awesome hamburgers. Don’t worry about the food, gourmets and culinary critics have their best meal here. Buy a fresh catch from a fisherman and see it barbeque in front of you. Ah! That’s sounds so delicious. There’s nothing like fresh seafood. For all you lovers of shopping, make a visit to the local flea market or the retail stores, you’re bound to find something nice and something exquisite.

Best Caribbean island vacation?

My wife and I have been to Aruba, Jamaica, Cancun, and Costa Rica. We are trying to decide between trying something new or going back to Aruba. We are currently looking into St. Martin mostly, but will consider alternate suggestions. The things we love about Aruba: Direct, nonstop flights from DC; it’s relatively safe – you don’t see guys walking around with machine guns patrolling the borders of your hotel/compound; Awesome restaurants and food; beautiful beaches and snorkeling; excellent bus system-cheap and easy so you don’t need a rental car; plus casinos and nightlife. We are looking at St.Martin because they also have direct flights from DC, but we will consider other destinations too. Does anyone have an opinion on where we should go?
Yes, we’ve been to the Mediterranean and would love to go back but airfare right now is a bit outrageous. Mallorca is our dream retirement destination!

I’m thinking about going to Central America but don’t know which one to go to. Which one has more poverty? Which is safer? Foods, beaches and places to visit would you recommend. Which one is more similar to the Caribbean islands? What do they have that makes them more unique?
