My husband and I are looking to go to the Caribbean next month. Neither of us are much for just lounging in the sun and I will be about 3 month pregnant by then so partying is out as is diving, zip lines, and other such activities. We are laid back outdoorsy camping types, into photography and want both beach and rainforest. I am leaning toward St Lucia (and have looked into Guadalupe and Dominica but they don’t seem as easy to get to). We don’t want to go to a fancy, big money spending place or like a Spring Break or Hollywood vacation spot- just normal. I would like to avoid places I have been already (USVI, Bahamas, Jamaica) and Puerto Rico is probably too American. We are also looking into Costa Rica. We would like to keep it reasonably priced and aren’t sure all inclusive is necessarily worth it for us (it seems it costs about 0 per person per day and I just cant see eating 0 worth per day- you almost have to drink your money’s worth). Also we don’t want to spend the whole trip at a resort- we want to get out and explore!
Okay, I am being sold on PR a bit now… plus it’s a lot cheaper to fly to and get good nonstop flights, or early arrivals…but would love to hear more from people…

A couple years ago, I went to the Virgin Islands on vacation w/ my family. I went out one day without sunscreen, and my shoulders got absolutely fried. The skin on top turned brown and started peeling. Years later, my shoulders have some mottled pigmentation and very small scarring from me peeling off the dead skin. Could this sunburn put me at risk for skin cancer? I have never had another blistering sunburn.

In March my friend and I have some vacation time and wanted to go somewhere different from Miami(nothing against it but we’ve been going at least once every yr). We would like to go to the US Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico but everything seems really expensive(I believe we’ve waited too late). We would ideally like to go somewhere warm/tropical, nice party scene and a place where they have reggae clubs and Caribbean/African style food(which we love). Any suggestions will be nice???? Oh also..if we DO decide to go to Miami are there any places like above(due to peoples preference I have yet to find any). THANKS IN ADVANCE.

I am planning a vacation for my family to go on in April of 2012 (Spring Break)… but there are just too many choices claiming "the best Caribbean experience". The island we most want to go to is St. Lucia for the Piton views in Soufriere, but the hotel prices are high for the more modern hotels, but hotels that aren’t ‘all-inclusive’ seem extremely reasonable with the risks from what I’ve read on reviews. Should we stick to going all rustic… or just pick another island with the modern conveniences and a more reasonable price? We like the jungle versus the flat islands like the Bahamas.

I am interested in choosing from all of the Catholic churches, but if I had to choose from a Catholic Church on St. Thomas, which one is the most picturesque?

Also how far is it between the islands?
What type of transportation is there?
If it is a ferry, is it covered? Specifically, if I were staying on one island and got married on another, would my fiancee’s hair be a mess by the time we traveled over to the other island?

we met on vacation in the virgin islands and ended up hanging out once. turns out that he lives right by me (we both are in college). we exchanged numbers and are facebook friends now… we texted a little throughout the week before and after we hung out.
i honestly felt such a strong connection with him. we have the same religion beliefs and seemed to have really hit it off. he hasn’t texted/called since the trip (we have been home a few days now) and i am just wondering if i should text him (i was the last to do it on his last day there and i was the last to say something… and i do not want to seem desperate) or if i should let him go and forget about him or what…
i honestly really like him up to this point and i think about him A LOT. and haven’t met anyone like him. no i am NOT a sl*t or desperate girl and we didn’t hook up or anything like that. like i said, were both religious.
im just wondering if it would be too much to text him because i did the initiating before. how can i NOT seem desperate????

Me and a few friends are getting ready to graduate from college and we’re looking to take a really nice relaxing vacation. We’re weighing a couple different options including cruises or going to one of the caribbean islands. We’d like to keep the price under 800 dollars if at all possible and we want to go for 5 days. We want to be relaxed but we want to go somewhere that has other things to do than just lie around on the beach all day since we like a little adventure. Does anyone have any suggestions for where we should look at?
