I have a potential job offer that would move my family to the Bay area. Benicia, Martinez or Concord are the primary areas I am considering, as they are the most centralized for the work I’d be doing. I’m trying to compare costs of living to where we currently are (St. Croix, USVI). My electric the last 2 months came to a total of 0+, and that’s with the use of very little "modern convenience", Central air, in my dreams, it doesn’t exist here. I’m trying to educate myself on the area as much as possible for speaking with the potential employer. Any and all info. regarding the bay area’s cost of living will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I’m trying to decide between going to the two places during the first week of March. What are the differences? I’m mainly looking for nice beaches, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Also, how is the mosquito situation then? I am very allergic to them.

Its been a H*LL of a few years..skooL is intense!!
The wife and I are just trying to do life main! She graduated and about to become a doctor, so no more living poor.. But anyways she starts her residency or whatever in two weeks, and I want to take her away to celebrate..

We both have our passports, but WE"VE never even been outta the USA in our lives..

I want to do something tropical, like island fun and swimming and all that.

I’ve never done ANYTHING Like this before.. so I have NO idea how to do this..

Can anyone help or offer suggestions? I would like to take her away for an island vacation somewhere, leaving like Sunday night and returning thursday morning… total of about 3-4 days!!

Can anyone clue me on what and how to do this?

How do I setup a quick 3 day vacation to the virgin islands or bahams or anyting tropical?

is there any resorts/rental agency’s that have (im guessing here) villa’s? or small houses that aren’t unbelievably expensive?

im looking for a vacation on the beach, hopefully a not very crowded beach, is there such a thing for under 3-4k?

We don’t want to stay in a place that’s swarming with people, but also don’t want complete seclusion. We want an island with beautiful beaches, but also other things to do such as snorkeling, hiking, etc. Good food is also something we enjoy. Shopping is definitely not something we would be looking to do, and good nightlife is also not necessary.

I had read online that you can and that some people recommend shipping some basic supplies to yourself before arriving in the US virgin islands. Such as no perishable, light weight foods, linens, whatever you might need for your stay but do not want to lug onto the airplane or buy when you get off of the plane. I have never heard of or done this before, we are renting a private villa for our stay which is in the national park on St. John and a ways away from the market place etc..
Has anyone done this before or could offer advice as far as what is ok to send, when to send it or any advice..I would really like to ship our snorkeling gear over too, but am unsure about it..

Hi there, I’m planning a family vacation to the Carribean. We have a 3 year old and just want to unwind. We’d prefer a place where it’s kid friendly but if the beaches and pools beat it we’ll go there.
We originally booked a trip to the Grand Bahama at Sheraton hotel, but due to the possibly comming hurricaine, put it on hold.
So please let me know where we could go, I’d appreciate that very much. We are not planning to party or anything, but would like to see locals perform in the evening, bonfires, maybe horseback riding and just discovering the island on a rented jeep or something..
